Naha Day

Event

“Naha Day” started in 1999, the preceding year of the Millennium, under the catch phrase of “Let’s love Naha and contribute to its future development.” The date selected for this event was July 8th, because “Naha” sounds like a syllable-combination of “nana (7)” and “hachi (8).” On this day, in the downtown of Naha, civic organizations hold many events such as open radio broadcasting, parent-child cooking classes, opening the museum to the public for free and sports competitions. These events provide a good opportunity for citizens to get to know each other and to think about the future of Naha and what they can do to better the town. As many events are held before and after July 8th, we recommend you check the event schedule and participate in activities that will help contribute to the future development of Naha.
