Additional Information

Academic information
Uchakuya was a building where the active magistrate (Zaibanbugyo) from the Satsuma and his party would prepare to visit Shurijo Castle. It is not known when the building was built. The site had more than 1,490 square meters. The active magistrate (Zaibanbugyo) and his party would wait here until a guide from the castle was sent to show them to the castle. Shuri police station was placed here after the domain system was abolished in 1879. It became Shuri Jinjo Elementary School, in 1890, and a school building was erected, but due to the transfer of Shuri Jinjo Higher Elementary School into Shuri Castle, in 1912, it was sold off to a private electric power company afterwards.
